Israel's new war crime; Gaza's last functioning medical complex shut down

The office of state media in Gaza announced that the Israeli regime's army attacked al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza on the morning of April 13 and committed yet another crime. 

This hospital had previously witnessed a deadly massacre on October 17, 2023, during which a mass killing took place.

This hospital, which is the main medical and treatment center in Gaza City and the last active one, was targeted while hundreds of patients, wounded individuals, medical staff, patient companions, and displaced people were present there.

According to Al-Jazeera, two missiles from the Zionist regime destroyed a two-story building containing surgical and intensive care units.

Videos of this attack show massive flames and thick columns of smoke rising from the hospital.

These videos also show patients and wounded individuals evacuating the hospital at night, while dozens of women and children are seen hurriedly fleeing the hospital courtyard, desperately searching for a safe place.

According to doctors, the missiles destroyed the emergency and admissions sections. Meanwhile, reports indicate that the hospital has become non-functional after the bombing of the oxygen tank and the surgical building.

Local journalists reported that an officer from the Israeli regime's army contacted one of the doctors working in the emergency section of al-Ahli Arab Hospital and told him that they must immediately evacuate the hospital.

He stated that they only had 20 minutes to evacuate the hospital of patients and displaced people.

According to the office of state media in Gaza, since the beginning of the war against this enclave in October 2023, the Zionist regime has deliberately destroyed 34 hospitals and removed them from service as part of a systematic plan to eliminate the remaining parts of Gaza's healthcare system.

The Palestinian Resistance Movement, Hamas, issued a statement describing the Zionist regime's crime against al-Ahli Arab Hospital on Sunday morning as a horrific crime.

Hamas stressed that this savage crime was carried out with the full backing and complicity of the United States, and it strongly criticized the silence and indifference of international communities regarding this crime.

Hamas added: How can the world and the United Nations Security Council remain silent in the face of these unprecedented Israeli crimes in the modern era?

The Palestinian Government's Information Office in Gaza also, in its first reaction to the Zionist attack on al-Ahli Arab Hospital, described it as a horrific and criminal act and strongly condemned it.

The Palestinian government also stated that the occupying regime has deliberately destroyed 34 hospitals and removed them from service and activity as part of a systematic program.

al-Ahli Arab Hospital, also known as the Baptist Hospital, is located in a residential area in the Zaytoun neighborhood of the Gaza Strip. Surrounding the hospital are St. Porphyrios Church, Al-Sham'a Mosque, and the Sheikh Shu'ban Cemetery.
