Finns worried about their security due to changing US policies

The Newsfin survey, commissioned by a consortium of 21 Finnish newspapers, found that 44 percent of Finns are somewhat concerned and 22 percent are very concerned about the country's security due to the change in US policy, with only 5 percent saying they are not concerned.
The survey, which was conducted among 1,000 people between March 11 and 19, said that the change in US policies with Donald Trump's decision to reduce Washington's commitment to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and increase tariffs was their main concern.
Women were the most concerned at 73 percent and men at 59 percent, with more than half of True Finns supporters and three-quarters of Left Alliance supporters expressing similar concerns.
Joha Vuri, a political scientist at the University of Turku in Finland, said: "NATO membership is expected to strengthen Finland's security, but Trump's unpredictability is clearly affecting public opinion."
Willi Sinkonen, a fellow at the Finnish Institute for International Affairs, also reported growing concerns in Europe, saying a new YouGov poll showed that 49 percent of Britons and 48 percent of Germans see Trump as the biggest threat to European security.
