The martyrdom of Salah al-Bardawil; the comrade of martyr Sinwar and the loud voice of resistance

Following the brutal aggression of the Zionist regime against the Gaza Strip, which has led to the massacre of nearly 700 civilians in the Strip in less than a week, this morning the Hamas movement confirmed the martyrdom of "Salah al-Bardawil", a member of the movement's political bureau, inside one of the refugee tents in the Al-Mawasi area, west of the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
In this criminal and terrorist operation, the occupying army fighters targeted and martyred Salah al-Bardawil, the 66-year-old leader of the Hamas movement, who was a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, along with his wife.
The martyrdom of this Hamas leader, while he was praying and prostrating inside the refugee tent, was widely reflected on social networks, and users considered the scene and place of his martyrdom along with his wife a blessing from God for a fighter who had a long history of political and media activity in the resistance.
Social media users emphasized: The martyrdom of Al-Bardawil and his wife inside the refugee tents is another clear response to all the claims of the enemy media against the leaders and commanders of the resistance, which claimed that the leaders and commanders of the resistance, including Salah Al-Bardawil and his family members, had fled the Gaza Strip.
Users wrote: You Zionists, saw that neither Saleh Al-Bardawil nor his family had fled Gaza and were not in the palaces of Qatar and Turkey; rather, they were present in the refugee tent among the people of Gaza.
Who was Martyr Salah Al-Bardawil?
Martyr Salah Al-Bardawil was born in 1959 in the Khan Yunis camp located in the south of the Gaza Strip, and his origins date back to the town of Al-Jawra in Gaza.
In 1982, he received a bachelor's degree in Arabic language and literature from the Faculty of Darul Uloom, Cairo University, and a master's degree in Palestinian literature from the University of Arabic Studies and Research in Cairo in 1987.
The Hamas leader also received his doctorate in Palestinian literature from Sudan University in 2001. He began his career in 1985 by teaching in primary schools and then as a lecturer at Al-Aqsa University between 1990 and 1993, before moving to the Strip to teach at the Islamic University of Gaza.
Al-Bardawil was a member of the Palestinian Writers Union and oversaw the establishment of the Palestinian National Associations of Thought and Culture. He was arrested by the Zionist occupation forces in 1993 and interrogated for more than two months in Gaza and Ashkelon prisons. The Zionists repeatedly targeted and destroyed his home during the various wars in Gaza.
Martyr Salah al-Bardawil's Media Activities
Martyr Salah al-Bardawil had a significant impact on the Palestinian media scene and launched the Al-Risala newspaper in 1996 as the first media platform of the Hamas movement, and he was its editor-in-chief.
This prominent and, of course, unknown leader of the Hamas movement published a weekly in the Al-Risala newspaper entitled "Streets of the Homeland", in which he addressed the political realities of Palestine and criticized the PA, which acts in coordination with the Zionist enemy, in a satirical manner. This led to elements of the PA arresting him several times.
Martyr Al-Bardawil headed the Hamas media department and supervised its management and development.
Salah al-Bardawil's Political Activities
Martyr Salah al-Bardawil initially participated in the political activities of the Hamas movement and founded the Islamic National Salvation Party, which was an alternative step to circumvent the restrictions of the PA in 1996. At the same time, he became a member of the Palestinian National Council.
He participated in Hamas’s first talks with the PA in Sudan, and in 2006 he participated in the parliamentary elections, winning a seat in the Legislative Assembly from Khan Yunis Governorate.
The Hamas leader was responsible for coordinating foreign relations for the movement’s parliamentary faction and was also the rapporteur for the political committee of the Palestinian Legislative Council. In 2017, he became a member of the Hamas political bureau in Gaza, where he was responsible for the national relations department, which was responsible for establishing communication and coordination with Palestinian groups and strengthening relations with Palestinian national leaders.
In 2021, Salah al-Bardawil was re-elected as a senior member of the Hamas political bureau in Gaza, and then took charge of the movement’s planning office both inside and outside the country.
Comrade of Martyr Yahya Sinwar and Martyr Muhammad Al-Dif
Martyr Salah Al-Bardawil grew up in the refugee camp in Khan Yunis with Martyr Yahya Sinwar, head of the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, Martyr Muhammad Al-Dif, commander-in-chief of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, and Martyr Yasser Al-Nimruti, a prominent commander of the Qassam Brigades, all of whom were in the camp.
