Torture and conditions of detention of Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya

Gheid Qassem, the lawyer of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, a Palestinian physician imprisoned in the prisons of the Zionist regime, managed to meet with him, who is the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, for the second time.

Hussam Abu Safiya has been in the prisons of the occupation regime since December 27, 2024, and according to his lawyer, his physical condition is not good.

According to the Al-Aqsa Channel, Qassem announced that Dr. Abu Safiya spent about 14 days in the "Sadi Taiman" detention center, which is known for mistreatment and torture of prisoners, and during this time he was subjected to long interrogations and harsh treatment.

He also revealed that Dr. Abu Safiya suffers from physical problems and that the occupation regime has tried to bring specific charges against him, but has not succeeded.

The lawyer also referred to the video released by the Israeli Channel 13 and said that Dr. Abu Safiya was unaware of the recording of the interview and that the occupying regime forced him to speak under pressure, insults, beatings and torture.

Gheid Qassem further emphasized that Dr. Abu Safiya met with him in high spirits and believes that “man is history and his history is the position he takes and is studied.”

On December 27 of last year, the Gaza Health Ministry announced the arrest of Abu Safiya by the Israeli army. Earlier, the regime’s army had raided and set fire to the Kamal Adwan Hospital.
