Half of Germans no longer consider the US a reliable ally
According to the German media outlet, two weeks after the election in Germany, voters are concerned about the reaction to Trump's policies, the fate of Ukraine and the issue of huge investments and government debts.
According to the results of the survey conducted from March 4 to 5, two-thirds of participants are in favor of a large increase in funding for infrastructure projects. The majority of voters also support increased borrowing to strengthen the country's defense, which, according to analysts, could lead to hundreds of billions of euros in debt.
The German media reported: Just six weeks into the new administration in Washington, Trump has had a major impact on Germans’ views of Washington’s approach to European allies by questioning key US policies.
One in two German respondents to the survey said their opinion of Trump had worsened. Only one in seven had a favorable view of Trump, and America’s image is plummeting to its lowest point.
Only one in six people in the survey believe the US is a reliable partner, and three-quarters of voters said that European NATO members cannot currently rely on Washington for protection.
