Trump to Dismantle US Department of Education

According to the Wall Street Journal, US President Donald Trump is likely to issue an executive order today to dismantle the Department of Education.
According to the newspaper, Trump is asking Education Secretary Linda McMahon to take "all necessary steps to facilitate the closure of the Department of Education" in accordance with US law.
US President Donald Trump has said that he wants to dismantle the Department of Education, calling the existence of this ministry a "hoax" that has failed to properly educate American students.
Trump has emphasized: The best countries in the world are ranked in the education sector. We are in the fortieth place. But we are number one in one area, which is spending per student. So, we spend more per student than any other country in the world, but we are in the fortieth place.
The U.S. Department of Education has offered up to $25,000 in incentives to most employees to resign or retire by Monday evening, ahead of expected workforce reductions.
“We can confirm that the Department of Education has sent an email to its employees offering them up to $25,000 in incentives to voluntarily resign,” a Department of Education spokesperson told Fox News.
The department’s offer came on the same day that Linda McMahon was scheduled to be confirmed by the Senate as Education Secretary, according to media reports.
