Americans’ growing distrust of the Trump administration’s economic performance

According to the Hill website, resolving the economic crisis in the United States was one of the important issues in the 2024 presidential election, and talk about it and various promises led to Trump’s re-election victory.
Recent polls show that, contrary to expectations, concerns about prices, jobs, and inflation have had a negative impact on Trump’s economic popularity.
A Gallup poll in February showed that only 42 percent of Americans support Trump’s economic actions. This is down from 53 percent in 2017, during Trump’s first term.
Of course, even with this decline in satisfaction, Trump still enjoys greater economic popularity than former US President Joe Biden. Biden left the White House with 34 percent approval and satisfaction with the economy.
According to a poll published in "Reuters", 44 percent of Americans believe that the job situation in this country is on the wrong track, and only 33 percent of American citizens believe that the job situation is moving in the right direction.
Regarding other issues such as the economy and improving the living conditions of households, the same poll showed that more than half of the American population believes that the situation is getting worse and has no hope of improvement.
The University of Michigan also recently announced in a report that consumer willingness to buy goods in February decreased by almost 10 percent compared to January and almost 16 percent compared to the previous year.
