Mousavi: The US has backed down due to Russia's threat of nuclear war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to the US to meet with US President Donald Trump ended in a controversial meeting.
With the media frenzy over what happened in the Zelensky-Trump meeting subsiding, we can now see the reality behind this scene with a better perspective.
In this regard, Seyyed Rasoul Mousavi, Iran's former senior diplomat and international affairs analyst, in an interview with Mizan, while referring to the reasons behind the aforementioned event, said: What is called Trump's America or Republican America is no different from America in other eras in many ways, and warmongering and claiming world leadership have been constant throughout the history of this country.
The importance of the controversial meeting between Trump and Zelensky
Noting that the incident that recently occurred in the White House during the meeting between the US and Ukrainian presidents has unspoken dimensions that must be taken into account, Mousavi stated: We know that Trump initially told Zelensky to give us the mines and the Ukrainian president rejected this offer, but later it was said that Zelensky had accepted this offer; this news was conveyed to Trump by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and on this basis the Americans accept Zelensky to go to the White House.
Stating that the Americans realized in the aforementioned meeting that the Ukrainian president had not accepted Washington's conditions and that this was when the Americans realized that they had been fooled, the former senior diplomat of our country stated: Therefore, what happened in that scene is more related to what happened behind the scenes than to the meeting itself, and this is an important issue that should not be neglected.
The former assistant to the foreign minister, referring to Zelensky's demand for US security guarantees in exchange for signing the aforementioned document (which he left the White House without signing), stated: "This was the issue that angered the Americans and they refused to provide security guarantees to Ukraine."
According to Mousavi, Trump, faced with the request for this security guarantee, told Zelensky that you are gambling with human lives in order to stay in power by starting World War III; this scene should be seen more clearly, because this meeting does not return to these statements; rather, the text of this meeting should also be considered; the text is that Zelensky, who had promised to sign the document related to the mines, said when he arrived at the White House that he wanted US security guarantees in exchange for signing this document.
The history of American warmongering is very long
The former diplomat of our country, while explaining the role of America in the Ukraine war with the aim of achieving illegitimate interests, said: The history of American warmongering is very long and there is no period of America during the presence of Democrats and Republicans in the White House when America was without war; this country has always been involved in wars; a serious discussion in this regard is to pay attention to two important historical periods.
He went on to explain: One of those two important historical periods is the Cuban Missile Crisis, during which America stood up to the Soviet Union in the 1960s and threatened this country with nuclear war; the Soviet Union backed down at that time.
The international affairs analyst stated that after the country announced its new nuclear doctrine, Russian officials explicitly stated that Moscow would use nuclear weapons if Russia’s national security and territorial integrity were to be the target of a fundamental threat or if NATO forces were involved in the war in Ukraine. He added: “This was the moment when Zelensky sought security guarantees, which meant drawing American or NATO forces into the war; this meant starting a nuclear war.”
According to Mousavi, if in the 1960s the Soviet Union backed down against the United States because of the nuclear threat, this time it was the United States that backed down because of the threat of nuclear war from Russia.
The gap between the US and Europe is very serious
The former assistant to the Secretary of State continued to explain the growing gaps between the US and Europe, saying: The gap between the US and Europe is a very serious gap that is not limited to the war in Ukraine; the US and Europe are at odds on many issues, because there are different areas for confrontation between them and the results will be different.
Pointing out that a concrete and recent example that can be given about one of these areas of confrontation was the Artificial Intelligence Summit in Paris in February 2024, he continued: The heads of different countries, who were said to be about 100 countries, were present at this meeting; the purpose of this meeting was to decide on the regulations needed for the future of artificial intelligence; all the participating countries spoke about the general topic of the meeting; J.D. Vance, Trump's vice president, said very easily at this meeting that we do not accept any regulations; by imposing regulations, you are effectively hindering artificial intelligence; America has golden rules for artificial intelligence, and what we say and formulate is the basis for artificial intelligence, because the artificial intelligence industry belongs to America.
Mousavi stated that America made this very clear two weeks ago, and said: Immediately after that, the Munich Security Conference was held, in which Vance again participated and spoke; he clearly said at this conference that the threat to Europe is not from China or Russia, but from within this continent, and Europeans should think about themselves.
According to our country's former senior diplomat, these talks were so intense that they made the chairman of the Munich Conference cry, and the videos of them were released.
Mousavi, referring to the conference chairman’s announcement that we have come to the conclusion that our values in Europe are not the same as those of the United States and that we are going down two separate paths on both sides of the Atlantic, added: “The conclusion is that the issues of disagreement between the United States and Europe are not limited to Ukraine alone, but also in artificial intelligence, security, and before that, in issues such as Afghanistan; the United States also withdrew from the JCPOA without consulting the Europeans.”
He clarified: “The United States is taking a path that completely considers Europe as a second or secondary level and does not consider Europe as its peer in any way.”
Compensating for the budget deficit; America's major concern
The former assistant to the foreign minister then pointed to another issue of disagreement between Europe and America, saying: Another issue that has received less attention is that the most important issue and problem currently facing America and Trump personally is the issue of compensating for the budget deficit and strengthening the dollar; Trump threatened the BRICS and said that if the BRICS wants to introduce a new currency in opposition to Trump, I will sanction the BRICS member countries.
According to the international affairs analyst, an issue that remains unspoken in this regard is Trump's sensitivity to the euro. The US is as sensitive to the unformed currency of the BRICS and the Chinese yuan as it is to the European euro and seeks to break it.
Mousavi stated that the US intends to divide the European Union and remove the Euro, which is now being proposed as an alternative currency to the US dollar, from the scene, and clarified: Whether it will succeed or not is another matter, but I believe that the gap between Europe and America has broad foundations; the foundations of disagreement are not limited to discursive, formal, and value issues, but rather have hard foundations that arise from the great competition over world resources and monetary power, and these differences continue in all areas.
The situation of Trump's America
The former assistant to the foreign minister, emphasizing that Trump's America is America without a mask, said: Within America, two groups of globalists (globalists) and extreme nationalists (extreme nationalists or Trumpists) are facing each other; this is an internal reality of America.
The international affairs analyst concluded by stating that globalists emphasize that America can lead the world in a global partnership, and that extreme nationalists who chant the slogan "America First" say that they lead the world through absolute power. Therefore, both groups claim to have global dominance and control. He added: "The ultimate goal of both movements is total domination of the world, but the methods they pursue are different."
