The Iranian community in Qatar; a valuable capacity on the Persian Gulf coast
Seyyed Abbas Salehi, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, met with Iranians living in the country during the Iranian Cultural Week in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
The meeting took place at the cultural consultation room of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Doha.
In this meeting, Salehi considered Iranian art, culture, and civilization to be well-known in the region and the world, and emphasized the need for overlap and synergy between the Iranian community in Qatar and artists living in the country.
The Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance considered the holding of the Iranian Cultural Week in Doha to be a metatext and a suitable platform for realizing this synergy.
In this meeting, the Iranians living in Qatar shared their concerns and suggestions in a cordial atmosphere with Salehi and the accompanying delegation.
A huge potential on the Persian Gulf side
The Iranian population in Qatar is estimated to be around 75,000, but now more than 110,000 Iranians live in Qatar, about half of whom are Achaemenids, 30 percent are Baloch, and the rest are from other Iranian races and ethnicities.
Also, many Iranians have traveled to Qatar over the years, under various pretexts, and have become aware of the vast potential of this small country on the Persian Gulf.
This visit once again reminds us of the need to focus on the Iranian diaspora abroad. In general, studying the Iranian diaspora is a precursor to understanding transnational relations and also return as a strategy for migrants in relation to their country of origin. In this macro approach, Iranians abroad are each considered cultural, economic, and civilizational ambassadors of Iran, and their desired potential in relation to Iranian society and the target society, census, and subsequently, must be realized.
The Iranian population abroad should not be identified and analyzed as a potential capacity or a society that is different from the country.
The prerequisite for realizing the capacities of Iranians abroad is to treat them as equal to Iranians inside the country.
The more this connection is strengthened, the more dynamic and less passive we will definitely see in the Iranian diaspora.
Iranians living in Qatar are capable and patriotic
Ali Bakhtiari, the Cultural Advisor of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Doha, points out the capabilities of Iranians living in Qatar in an interview with Mizan, saying:
Many Iranians living in Qatar are with us in organizing various cultural events, and their hearts beat to introduce Iranian culture and civilization to Qataris. During the recent cultural week, we have strongly witnessed this cooperation and synergy. This connection and overlap represent a power and capacity that not only should not be ignored, but also the necessary grounds must be provided for their best use. The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization has taken great strides in this regard in recent years, and these steps are being completed.
