Judiciary Spokesperson: The charge against two British nationals arrested by the IRGC Intelligence Organization is espionage
Regarding the British ambassador’s meeting with the two arrested nationals of this country in Kerman, the Judiciary Spokesperson said: These individuals were arrested in January of this year on charges of espionage.
Jahangir added: These individuals were monitored with the cooperation of security agencies and were arrested by the IRGC Intelligence Organization of Kerman Province.
The Judiciary Spokesperson announced: The individuals arrested entered Iran under the guise of tourists and, under the guise of research and investigation work, have collected information in several provinces of the country.
Jahangir stated: These individuals were cooperating with covert institutions related to the intelligence services of hostile and Western countries under the guise of research and investigation activities.
The spokesman for the judiciary said: These two British citizens were arrested and placed under the control of the provincial intelligence agencies during a series of coordinated intelligence operations and while collecting information in Kerman city.
In this regard, Hamidi, the Chief Justice of Kerman province, said: According to the observations of intelligence and security institutions, the connection of these individuals with several institutions affiliated with intelligence services has been confirmed and additional investigations are ongoing in this regard.
The Chief Justice of Kerman province stated: The meeting of British Ambassador Hugo Shorter with two security suspects of this country was held at the General and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in Kerman province and was based on judicial and intelligence coordination.
Hamidi emphasized: This meeting took place at the request of the British Ambassador and with the approval of the judicial authority and in coordination with the security apparatus.
