Israeli army casualties revealed in Gaza war

According to the Israeli Ministry of War's rehabilitation department, which was quoted by the Israeli newspaper Ma'ariv on Monday, 8,600 of the injured have sustained physical injuries, and another 7,500 are suffering from severe psychological trauma, such as anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
This statistic shows that 93 percent of the wounded are men and 7 percent are women. According to the report, 846 soldiers and law enforcement officials have been killed since the war started.
Hebrew reports recently announced that the number of Israeli army casualties during the war may reach 6,000.
The distribution of data by type of wounded shows that 66 percent of the wounded are reservists, 17 percent are regular soldiers and 10 percent are police officers.
The report also cited other figures related to multiple injuries, with 1,500 soldiers wounded twice. Others suffered psychological trauma and returned to the war only to be wounded again.
The newspaper also carried a government watchdog report that warned of a serious psychological crisis in Israel, estimating that the war may cause at least 3 million Israelis to experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
In response to the reports, Ma'ariv stated that the most recent data presents a dismal image of the extent of the losses and the high price paid by the Israeli army, reservists, and security forces.
Previous figures, published in October 2024, stated that 12,000 soldiers had been treated in Israeli hospitals and psychiatric clinics since the start of the invasion of the Gaza Strip and then Lebanon.
