16 dead in refugee boat capsize

At least 16 Pakistani migrants died when their boat capsized off the coast of Libya, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry reported.
According to a statement from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, the fate of 10 others is unknown, with 33 of the 37 survivors in Libyan police custody and one undergoing treatment in hospital.
According to the Associated Press, about 65 people were on board the migrant boat bound for Europe, and emergency workers in Libya say they have recovered the bodies of 16 Pakistani migrants and at least 10 others are believed to be missing.
The Pakistani embassy in Tripoli is gathering more information and maintaining contact with local authorities, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Libya's attorney general recently announced the discovery of a mass grave of migrants in the country; Security officials in the country have discovered the remains of at least 28 migrants.
Since 2011, Libya has become a transit route for refugees who make the dangerous journey across the desert and the Mediterranean to Europe.
