Explanations from the Judiciary Media Center about the Niloufar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi case
It was the summer of this year that Elahe Mohammadi and Niloufar Hamedi, two security convicts, wrote a letter to the Head of the Judiciary expressing regret for their actions in the years before their arrest and requesting pardon and clemency.
In the letter they wrote to the Head of the Judiciary, Ms. Mohammadi and Ms. Hamedi expressed regret for their past behavior and pledged not to commit any illegal behavior, as they did after their temporary release from prison (in the past months), and they also expressed regret for their actions in the past years that led to their convictions.
This fall, the Judiciary Spokesperson announced that after the Chief of the Judiciary agreed to refer the case of these two individuals to the Amnesty and Pardon Commission, the matter was followed up in the Tehran Provincial Court and the case was reviewed by the Provincial Amnesty Commission. Then, the case was sent to the Central Amnesty Commission with a favorable opinion and is currently being reviewed by this commission.
Finally, with the favorable opinion of this commission, the names of the mentioned convicts were included in the proposed list of pardons for 22th Bahman.
With the Supreme Leader’s approval of the list proposed by the Chief of the Judiciary, these individuals were also pardoned.
