Abu Sharif: The people of Gaza will not leave their land

US President Donald Trump recently proposed plans regarding Gaza that have faced widespread controversy and condemnation around the world.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in his latest rejection of the Palestinians' right to self-determination, claimed that the Palestinians should form a state in Saudi Arabia instead of their own land.
In this regard, Nasser Abu Sharif, the representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement in Tehran, addressed these claims by Trump and Netanyahu in an interview with Mizan.
Displacing the residents of Gaza; An example of ethnic cleansing
Abu Sharif said: Donald Trump's statements about "occupying the Gaza Strip" and forcibly displacing its people are in fact a dangerous escalation and an example of "organized ethnic cleansing" against the Palestinians, and according to reports from human rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch, it can be considered a war crime.
He stated: This plan is a continuation of colonial policies that aim to physically eliminate or expel Palestinians in order to create a basis for long-term investment and settlement plans by the United States and Israel in Gaza.
Motive and purpose behind the scenes
The representative of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Tehran stated about the background of Trump's plan: This is an American-Zionist plan that seeks to end the national rights of the Palestinians in Gaza by changing the demographic composition and depriving them of the right to self-determination; in other words, the United States and Israel want to prepare the ground for the expulsion of people from their land by presenting the conditions in Gaza as critical after the bombings and the long siege.
He continued: "The US is not acting as a diplomatic or political supporter in this matter, but is actually becoming a direct accomplice in war crimes and mass forced displacement." Abu Sharif emphasized: "Although it is claimed on the surface that they intend to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza, in essence they want to complete the project of "clearing the Palestinian issue."
The risk of widespread instability in the region
Abu Sharif stated that the implementation of this plan will impose a wave of new refugees on neighboring countries and could exacerbate social and security crises in Egypt, Jordan and other countries, and noted: Various countries feel that the continuation of the conflict and the widespread displacement of Palestinians will increase the risk of security and instability.
He stated: Human rights organizations have openly condemned these actions, and many governments have been forced to condemn such a plan in order to maintain their credibility in the world.
Serious obstacles to implementing Trump's plan in Gaza
Abu Sharif said about the obstacles to implementing Trump's plan, noting that one of these obstacles is Egypt and Jordan's refusal to accept it, adding: "Both countries have officially emphasized that they will not allow Palestinians to be displaced to their land."
The Islamic Jihad official cited another reason as the stubborn resistance of the Palestinians in Gaza, who have not surrendered to the numerous bombings and aggressions; the people of Gaza will not leave their homes under any circumstances.
The Islamic Jihad representative described another obstacle as international condemnation and concern about the world's reaction, saying: "Forced displacement of a large population is clearly a war crime."
Abu Sharif said: "Trump and Netanyahu may use this plan as a tool for political pressure; but history has shown that any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians in Gaza will face strong resistance and be difficult to achieve."
Netanyahu's plan to settle Palestinians in Saudi Arabia
The Palestinian official, referring to Netanyahu's recent claim that he wanted to establish a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia, described this proposal as the completion of the project to eliminate the Palestinian issue.
He warned: This idea is a version of the same "alternative homeland" or "settlement" theory that has been proposed for decades to deprive Palestinians of their rights in their land.
Abu Sharif clarified: The main goal of Netanyahu and the Israeli far-right is to prevent the Palestinians from returning to their homeland and forming an independent state in the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem.
The representative of the Islamic Jihad movement called this plan a clear interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries and reminded: The claim of "forming a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia" ignores the sovereignty of Saudi Arabia or any other Arab country and is an insult to the entire Arab world. No country will accept such an idea because it causes political and demographic insecurity in that country.
Obtaining a permit or green light from the US
Referring to Netanyahu's proposal, which was raised after the meeting with Trump, he stated: History shows that Israeli leaders always try to get approval from Washington when making decisions on crucial issues related to Palestine.
Abu Sharif continued: Netanyahu will probably get a "green light" from Trump to propose more radical plans such as expelling or resettling Palestinians.
He described Netanyahu's plan as exporting internal crises and said: Netanyahu is facing numerous internal problems, including corruption cases and internal protests, and raising such an issue after the meeting with Trump is an attempt to create a political atmosphere to divert Israeli public opinion from internal problems and direct it towards threatening the Palestinians.
The representative of the Islamic Jihad movement in Tehran stated: Such plans satisfy the demands of the extreme right wing and extremist settlers, and Netanyahu hopes to maintain or strengthen his political base in this way. In addition to this support for extremist ideas, Netanyahu will have the support of parties such as the Ben-Gweir or Smotrich parties, ensuring the survival of his cabinet.
Displacing Palestinians will not solve the Palestinian issue
He warned: Any attempt to displace Palestinians will not only not solve the issue but will also exacerbate anger and tension throughout the region; an issue that many global and regional actors fear, and as a result, it is politically and practically impossible to implement the forced displacement plan.
Abu Sharif, referring to the position of the Islamic Jihad movement in this regard, stated: What Trump and Netanyahu are proposing today about displacing Palestinians, especially residents of Gaza, or forming a "Palestinian state" in a location far from Palestine, is an extension of the same colonial project that has continued since the Balfour Declaration until today, and its goal is to deprive the Palestinians of their identity and historical rights.
He continued: These plans are considered war crimes and even "crimes against humanity" based on international law, and their perpetrators must be prosecuted. Unfortunately, America, by unilaterally supporting Israel, has gone from covert complicity to open complicity in these crimes.
The representative of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Tehran emphasized: The Palestinian people have shown that they will resist any plot to eliminate or destroy their identity; the proof of this claim is their steadfastness in the face of the siege, continuous wars, and repeated attempts at forced expulsion. Any notion that the Palestinians will eventually tire or make concessions ignores the reality of the past century of struggle, and that the Palestinians have not only established their right to this land, but will never give up on it.
The Palestinian official stated: It is essential that the Arab world and the international community stand firmly against this “expansionist madness.” Any silence or negligence would mean giving the green light to a new disaster and possibly another genocide; we will never bargain over our land and national rights.
