Germans' fantasy reaction to a real threat

The story goes that the German Foreign and Defense Ministries announced that they are extremely dissatisfied with the recent trends on the social network X, or the former Twitter, and will no longer continue their activities on this platform owned by Elon Musk.

Elon Musk has been accused of interfering in European politics. His recent actions include calling for the dismissal of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, insulting German Chancellor Olaf Schulz, calling him an “incompetent idiot,” and supporting the far-right Alternative for Germany party. But the main question is: to what extent are the recent actions of the US Defense and State Departments proportionate to a real and explicit threat and interventionism from the new Washington administration? Certainly, few in Germany and Europe would consider such a response proportionate!

More importantly, officials from the two main ministries in Germany still observe some red lines imposed by Washington in their criticism of the United States! Neither of the two German ministries directly referred to Musk’s statements or his recent activities, including a live interview he gave with Alternative for Germany leader Alice Weidel on the X network.

However, it is certain that Elon Musk has taken the initiative to distort the power equations in Berlin and considers the first step in this regard to be the destruction of Berlin's political and economic infrastructure. The presence of the German far-right (Alternative for Germany) at the top of the power equations, even if it takes the form of participation in a coalition government, means nothing more than a regression of the Germans to the middle of the 20th century, and this is the main desire of Trump and Musk.

Let's not forget that Germany is the main pillar supporting the European Union and the Eurozone, and the occurrence of political changes in it will target many of the macro-power equations and relations in a united Europe. In such circumstances, posting on the X network is the most ridiculous action by the Germans in opposition to the Trump administration's roadmap in Berlin. Without a doubt, such an action will not lead to a stop to the objective and operational threats of the United States in targeting traditional power relations in Berlin!
