Eslami: The IAEA must be held accountable for the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities

Mohammad Eslami, Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said on Monday, on the sidelines of the unveiling ceremony for three new achievements of the nuclear industry, in remarks to reporters: About 56 countries are seeking to purchase our products, including radiopharmaceuticals as well as products related to heavy water and its derivatives. We have not faced sanction-related problems in transportation, and exports are ongoing. In cases where transportation has been affected by sanctions, we are seeking ways to deliver these products to consumers. Therefore, it can be said that our products are in demand on the global market and are expanding.

Regarding recent remarks by Rafael Grossi, Director General of the IAEA, and his request to inspect Iran’s nuclear facilities that were targeted during the aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime, Eslami said: The issue now concerns facilities that were attacked; there must be a protocol in place regarding such facilities.

Criticizing the Agency’s approach, Eslami stressed: An agency that does not condemn attacks on nuclear facilities has no right to demand inspections. We have corresponded with the Agency; the Agency neither took a position on the attack on these facilities, nor condemned it, nor issued any directive.

The Vice President added that pressure from the Zionist regime and three European countries should not be a reason for imposing pressure on Iran, saying: They must answer to the world, because this could happen to any country.

Eslami emphasized: Iran’s nuclear facilities were registered with the Agency and were under its supervision; the Agency must be held accountable. Now is not the time for the Agency to ask questions; rather, the Agency must answer why it did not condemn the attack and what guidelines it has for such a case. If it has such guidelines, it must follow that process so that we can see it.
