Third phase of transfer of Iranian prisoners from Georgian prisons to Iran implemented
Mahmoud Adib, Iran’s ambassador to Georgia, stated: “Through the efforts and follow-up of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tbilisi, the third phase of transferring Iranian prisoners to the country (over the past four years) will be carried out on Friday, December 12.”
Four Iranian prisoners currently held in Georgian prisons will be transferred this Friday with the assistance of Georgia’s Ministry of Justice and in coordination and cooperation with Iran’s Ministry of Justice. They will continue serving the remainder of their sentences inside Iran.
According to the Iranian ambassador, the implementation of this third phase of prisoner transfers, carried out under the order of the Prime Minister of Georgia and with the cooperation of the Georgian Ministry of Justice, is taking place despite the absence of any formal agreement on prisoner transfer between the two countries.
