Harvesting White Gold in North Khorasan
Cotton, often referred to as “white gold,” is one of the fundamental and economically significant crops of North Khorasan Province. Owing to the high quality of its fibers, proper coloration, and favorable yield, it has gained a special position in the province’s cultivation pattern.
In recent years, due to its economic viability and the capacity of related downstream industries, cotton cultivation has expanded in the counties of Maneh and Samalqan, Esfarayen, Jajarm, Bojnord, and Raz and Jargalan. These areas have now turned into the main hubs of cotton production in the province.
The increase in cultivated area, growing attention to processing, and the role of this crop in supplying raw materials for the textile industry have further doubled its importance in the agricultural economy of the province.
