Return of more than 50 Iranian nationals from the United States
In an interview with Mizan News Agency, Mojtaba Shasti Karimi, Director General for Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported the return of 55 Iranian nationals from the U.S.
According to Shasti Karimi, these individuals are those who, in recent months, due to the continuation of the United States government’s anti-immigration and discriminatory policies against foreign nationals—especially Iranians—expressed their desire to return to the Islamic Republic and completed the related legal and administrative procedures through the Interests Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Washington.
Referring to credible reports about the mistreatment of foreign nationals by U.S. security and law enforcement authorities whom they consider subject to deportation, Shasti Karimi said:
“Unfortunately, numerous cases of physical assault and inhumane treatment of foreign nationals and migrants in the United States have been reported, which indicates the institutionalized racist outlook within the U.S. system of governance. With regard to Iranian nationals as well, we have received many reports of inhumane treatment. Concerning the group that was returned to Iran in Mehr [September–October], they were even mistreated during their transfer to Iran. These issues were formally protested and officially recorded through diplomatic correspondence.”
Emphasizing the Foreign Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity and rights of Iranian nationals abroad, the Director General for Consular Affairs stressed:
“Necessary instructions have been issued to Iran’s Interests Section in Washington and to diplomatic missions in the countries that serve as transit points for these 55 Iranian nationals to ensure that they are treated appropriately and humanely during their transfer to Iran.”
