Gaza in free fall: Death toll, hunger, and displacement explode in 2025
Human rights organizations have described 2025 as the deadliest and most destructive year for Palestinians. During this year, the Israeli regime significantly intensified the killing and forced displacement of civilians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
This is stated in a joint report recently published by 12 human rights organizations.
The report says that in 2023 and 2024, grave violations were recorded in Gaza during Israel’s genocide, but the results of 2025 indicate a severe deterioration: the number of those killed nearly doubled, displacement spread across almost the entire besieged territory, and starvation became one of the causes of mass death.
Human rights groups said that violations which had initially been considered exceptional at the start of the war became part of daily routine this year. The second year of the war in Gaza became the deadliest and most destructive year for Palestinians since 1967.

According to the statistics released by human rights groups, the number of those martyred in Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza surpassed 36,000 by March 2024 and rose to 67,173 by October 2025.
This figure includes more than 20,000 children and around 10,000 women. In addition, approximately 10,000 bodies still buried under the rubble are not included in these figures. The number of wounded has also exceeded 170,000.
According to the report, the number of displaced Palestinians in 2025 reached 1.9 million people—about 90 percent of Gaza’s population—up from around one million in 2024.

Many of these individuals have been displaced multiple times, as entire neighborhoods and vital infrastructure, including water and electricity, have been destroyed.
Regarding starvation caused by the actions of the Israeli regime, the report states that 461 people, including 157 children, had died of hunger by October 2025.
Human rights groups announced that 2,306 Palestinians were killed while waiting to receive aid in a daily tragedy created by the Israeli regime’s mechanism in 2025, and about 17,000 others were injured.
Violence by Zionist settlers
According to human rights groups, about 1,200 attacks by Zionist settlers were recorded in the occupied West Bank between 2023 and 2024, while widespread violence increased further in 2025.
The report shows that 44 Palestinian communities were completely displaced, and 10 others were partially evacuated, bringing the total number of displaced Palestinians to 2,932 people, including 1,326 children.
The report added that the number of administrative detainees being held without charge by the Israeli regime increased from 1,000 in 2023 to 3,577 in 2025—three times the pre-war average.

The report documents the deaths of at least 98 Palestinians in Israeli detention due to torture, deprivation of medical treatment, and inhumane detention conditions.
The year 2025 revealed a reality that was previously unimaginable: a regime acting without limits, systematically violating international law and destroying the very values it claims to uphold.
Experts say this occupying regime can no longer claim morality or self-defense.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly reported the torture of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, including beatings, starvation, and sexual abuse.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces have intensified their attacks in the occupied West Bank since October 2023.
Since then, more than 1,085 Palestinians have been killed in attacks by the occupying army and Zionist settlers across the occupied territories, and another 10,700 have been injured. More than 20,500 people have also been arrested.
