21 years in prison for Imran Khan and his wife

According Pakistan National Television, Judge Nasser Javed Rana, the presiding judge of the Accountability Court, announced the final verdict in the corruption case against the former Prime Minister and his wife inside the Rawalpindi prison, where Imran Khan has been imprisoned since the summer of 2023.
The 190-million-pound corruption case is part of the charges filed against Imran Khan. It is said that Imran Khan received this money for the benefit of a wealthy Pakistani businessman without following the legal procedures during his time as Prime Minister, and by doing so, he violated the laws of the country.
The court judge declared that Imran Khan had abused his authority and caused damage to the national treasury of Pakistan, and that his wife was also considered an accomplice in this criminal act.
The judge further fined the former Pakistani prime minister one million rupees and his wife 500,000 rupees.
The court ordered the arrest of Bushra Begum, while Imran Khan was already in prison due to legal cases.
In mid-February last year, Imran Khan and his wife were sentenced to 14 years in prison in the same case, although the Islamabad High Court in late May this year suspended the sentence and ordered the former prime minister's release on bail.
Imran Khan and his party (Pakistan Justice Movement) consider the nature of all legal and security cases against him and other members of this party to be political and accuse the government of taking revenge on the opposition.
