Gallup: Trump’s approval rating drops to 36%
According to the Gallup survey, Trump’s approval rating dropped by five points to 36 percent, marking the lowest point of his second presidential term, while disapproval of his performance has risen to 60 percent.
Gallup’s assessments indicate that his previous lowest approval rating during his second term was 37 percent in July, and his lowest approval rating overall was 34 percent in 2021, at the end of his first term following the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Trump also received mostly negative evaluations on nine major domestic and foreign policy issues. Crime (43%), foreign affairs (41%), foreign trade (39%), and immigration (37%) were the areas where he performed relatively better than others.
However, he received sharply negative evaluations in five other areas: the economy (36%), the situation in the Middle East between Israelis and Palestinians (33%), the federal budget (31%), the situation in Ukraine (31%), and healthcare policy (30%).
Two weeks ago, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that Trump’s popularity had fallen to its lowest point during his presidency due to rising living costs and the resurfaced controversy surrounding Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender and billionaire.
According to that poll, the U.S. president’s approval rating dropped to 38 percent, also marking the lowest level of his presidency. Trump began his second term with a 47 percent approval rating, according to Reuters polling.
