Indictment against Israeli soldier on suspicion of spying for Iran
According to Times of Israel on Thursday, Israeli prosecutors claim that Rafael Reoni had been in contact with an Iranian intelligence operative and sent videos showing the area near his home, a bus station, and a shopping center in southern Israel to the Iranian agent.
The sources also allege that the Israeli soldier sent a photo of his military ID to the Iranian operative and provided information about his military base.
Israeli sources, citing the Israeli prosecution, further claim that the former Israeli soldier performed actions to provide information to the Iranian contact in exchange for approximately $2,700.
According to the report, the 22-year-old was arrested last month based on Shin Bet intelligence, and prosecutors have requested that the Beersheba District Court issue a detention order until the completion of the legal proceedings.
This is not the first time that Israel has arrested individuals on allegations of spying for Iran, claiming that they are acting on behalf of Iranian intelligence agencies.
