Araghchi: The Cairo Memorandum is officially considered terminated
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, responding to what he called the unlawful and unjustified action of the three European countries and the United States in submitting an anti-Iran resolution to the IAEA Board of Governors—which was passed under pressure from these four states despite the opposing and abstaining votes of 15 members—stated that their move undermines the credibility and independence of the Agency and disrupts the process of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA.
Araghchi added that although the Cairo Memorandum had effectively lost its practical basis in Iran–IAEA safeguards relations after the unlawful attempt by the three European countries at the UN Security Council to reinstate the annulled Security Council resolutions, today Iran officially informed the Director General that the memorandum is no longer valid and is considered terminated.
