IAEA claim: Our estimates of Iran’s nuclear stockpiles remain unchanged
According to the report, the IAEA asserted that its inspectors visited Iran’s undamaged nuclear facilities in June but did not inspect any sites that had sustained damage.
The report also claimed that the agency’s estimates of Iran’s enriched uranium reserves have not changed “because full inspections have not yet resumed.”
It added: “Inspections have not been fully resumed; therefore, our estimates of Iran’s stockpiles remain unchanged.”
The IAEA further alleged that Iran is obliged to provide a report on the status of damaged nuclear materials and facilities but has not yet done so.
Earlier, Ismail Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that:
“As long as we remain a member of the NPT and committed to the Safeguards Agreement, we are aware of our obligations. Last week, IAEA inspectors visited several Iranian nuclear sites, including the Tehran Research Reactor.”
Baghaei added that the procedures governing inspections of other nuclear facilities are clear and regulated, stating: “According to the law passed by Parliament, any IAEA inspection request must first be coordinated with the Supreme National Security Council before a decision is made. Moreover, we are facing an exceptional situation due to the aggressive actions of the Zionist regime and the United States. The IAEA must understand that these are not normal circumstances. Before the U.S. and Israeli military aggression, we maintained regular cooperation with the Agency, and afterwards, we reached an understanding under the Cairo Framework to continue cooperation under new conditions.”
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also criticized the European parties, saying: “It is the Europeans who should be blamed. They attempted to misuse the JCPOA’s dispute resolution mechanism to revive the previously annulled UN Security Council resolutions—thereby disrupting the cooperative process we had initiated with the IAEA.”
