Baghaei: Arresting Iranian nationals is a form of hostage-taking

In response to a question from a Mizan reporter about the release of several Iranian nationals who had been caught in various situations in recent days and their return to their homeland, the spokesman for the diplomatic service said: One of the Iranian citizens who was present in Syria and had been traveling to this country for some time and had not been able to leave Syria due to the existing insecurity, left Syria two nights ago and returned to Tehran.
Stating that we also thank all relevant parties for helping with this transfer, Baghaei said: Regarding the other case, namely Mr. Abedini who was arrested in Milan, Italy, we believed from the beginning that this was a form of entrapment and hostage taking that, unfortunately, has become widespread in recent years by the United States.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that our position regarding dialogue and negotiation is a consistent one, and said: Iran has always followed the path of dialogue and negotiation to resolve doubts that we consider unjustified and has never left the negotiating table.
According to Baghaei, the Geneva talks are ongoing today and tomorrow on a wide range of issues.
Pointing out that decisions will be made regarding the United States based on its actions and approaches at the appropriate time, he stated: Negotiations are not something we beg for, but rather this issue is done with mutual respect.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman stated: Regarding the exchange of messages between Iran and the United States, it should be said that the official channel for the exchange of messages is the US Interests Office in Tehran, which is under the responsibility of Switzerland.
Baghaei stated: It is natural that other parties also want to play a role in this area; we listened to all parties, but our official channel of communication is the US Interests Office in Tehran.
Stating that the bitter reality facing the world is the continuation of the open genocide in Gaza and throughout Palestine, Baqaei emphasized: "It is shameful that the world and international organizations have failed to fulfill their duty; the main reason for this situation is the supporters of the Zionist regime, who are holding the Security Council hostage and, by sending military aid to the occupied territories, are in a way helping to continue the genocide in Gaza."
Noting that our position on Syria is clear and we believe that the Syrians should be allowed to determine their own destiny without foreign interference, Baghaei added: "The future of Iran-Syria relations depends on the performance and behavior of the other side; our approach has been made clear in previous statements and in the notification to the new Iranian representative in Syria."
