Israeli military prosecutor resigns over prison abuse video leak
Hebrew sources reported that the military prosecutor submitted her resignation to Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir on suspicion of being involved in leaking a video showing the abusive treatment of a Palestinian prisoner at the Sde Teyman detention center.
In this context, Israel’s Channel 14 reported that the army chief issued a dismissal order for the military prosecutor due to suspicions that she played a role in leaking a video showing Israeli soldiers committing acts of violence and sexual abuse against a Palestinian prisoner.
Israel’s War Minister, Israel Katz, stated that the army’s chief prosecutor would not return to her position due to her involvement in leaking the Sde Teyman video.
He added that anyone involved in “discrediting the soldiers with bloodshed” in the Sde Teyman case would face prosecution.
Meanwhile, Doron Kadosh, a military reporter for the army radio, confirmed that the chief military prosecutor admitted to Chief of Staff Zamir that she had authorized the release of investigative information regarding the Sde Teyman case.
She said: “I confirmed the release of information to the media in an effort to counter false propaganda against the law enforcement units in the army. I take full responsibility for any information that was leaked from within the unit to the media. Based on this responsibility, I decided to resign from my position as the army’s chief military prosecutor.”
