21 Iranian prisoners transferred from Turkish jails back to Iran
Askar Jalalian, Deputy Minister of Justice for Human Rights and International Affairs, confirmed that 21 Iranian inmates held in Turkish prisons have been returned to the country.
He explained that following a recent visit by a delegation from Turkey’s Ministry of Justice to Tehran, and through cooperation between the ministries of Justice, Foreign Affairs, and other relevant bodies, the prisoners were transferred to Iran after completing the necessary legal procedures.
According to the bilateral agreement on the transfer of sentenced persons between Iran and Turkey, these individuals will serve the remainder of their sentences in Iranian prisons.
Jalalian added that the Committee for the Transfer of Convicts is committed to its legal duties and seeks to reduce the emotional and financial burdens faced by prisoners and their families by facilitating the return of Iranian nationals detained in foreign countries.
