Netanyahu’s corruption trial to convene four times a week
According to the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, Netanyahu’s trial will now convene four times a week starting in November. The report added that the court rejected the defense team’s request to avoid holding sessions so frequently.
It has repeatedly happened that Netanyahu left court sessions abruptly after receiving “mysterious envelopes,” reportedly containing “urgent messages” for the Israeli prime minister.
Netanyahu faces multiple legal cases involving corruption, abuse of power, and receiving gifts from wealthy figures. These cases have been ongoing for years and have frequently been accompanied by political controversy and public tension.
In recent months, domestic protests and political pressure on Netanyahu’s cabinet have intensified. A Maariv newspaper poll in the occupied territories showed that 56% of Israelis oppose any delay in Netanyahu’s trial proceedings.
Netanyahu is being investigated under several major corruption cases:
- Case 1000: Allegations of receiving expensive gifts from wealthy businessmen for himself and his wife.
- Case 2000: Accusations of negotiating with the owner of a media conglomerate opposed to the cabinet to secure favorable coverage.
- Case 3000: Related to the illegal purchase of submarines and warships from Germany.
- Case 4000: Netanyahu is suspected of granting regulatory favors to the Bezeq telecom company and the Walla news site in exchange for positive media coverage for himself and his wife.
