California governor considering 2028 presidential run
The Democratic governor of California — a well-known critic of Donald Trump — has announced that he is considering running for president in the 2028 U.S. election.
Mizan -
Gavin Newsom, the Democratic governor of California, said in an interview with CBS News that he is currently weighing a potential bid for the 2028 presidential election and will make his final decision after the 2026 midterm elections.
When asked whether he would seriously consider running for president after the 2026 elections, Newsom replied, “Yes. I’d be lying if I said otherwise.”
Newsom’s term as governor of California will end in January 2027, and constitutional term limits will prevent him from seeking re-election in 2026.
He added during the interview, “Fate will decide.”
The California governor has been one of the most outspoken critics of Donald Trump’s administration, particularly on social media.
