Gaza death toll rises to 68,519 despite ceasefire
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, as cited by Shehab News Agency, announced that over the past 48 hours, 19 bodies were transferred to hospitals — four of whom were directly targeted by Israeli forces, while 15 bodies were recovered from under the rubble.
During the same period, seven others were injured in different parts of Gaza.
Since the ceasefire came into effect on October 11, 2025, a total of 93 Palestinians have been killed, 324 wounded, and 464 bodies have been recovered from beneath destroyed buildings.
Taking these figures into account, the overall death toll in Gaza since October 7, 2023 — when Israel’s war began following Operation Al-Aqsa Flood — has now risen to 68,519 martyrs, with 170,382 others injured.
Earlier, Mohammad Abu Afash, Director of Gaza’s Emergency Medical Relief Organization, told Al Jazeera that humanitarian and medical supplies expected to enter the enclave after the ceasefire have still not arrived, and the medical sector continues to face severe shortages.
He stressed that mobile clinics and field hospitals are urgently needed, expressing hope that Gaza’s humanitarian situation and access to medical equipment will soon improve.
Abu Afash added that clear policies must be established to help revive and improve living conditions for Gaza’s civilians — especially for children.
