52% say ‘No’ to Netanyahu’s re-election bid
According to the survey published by Channel 12 News, 52% of respondents said they were against Netanyahu running in the 2026 elections, while only 41% believe he should participate. Another 7% declined to state an opinion.
The poll also found that half of right-wing voters in the occupied territories are unsure who could replace Netanyahu as the leader of the coalition if he decides not to run.
In a separate poll released on Friday by the Maariv newspaper, Netanyahu’s coalition reportedly lost two Knesset seats compared to the previous week, and would win 50 seats if elections were held today.
Under Israeli law, forming a cabinet requires the support of 61 out of 120 Knesset members. The latest poll indicates that the opposition bloc would secure 59 seats, while Arab parties would win 11 seats.
However, the opposition parties continue to reject forming any coalition that includes the Arab factions.
Meanwhile, Hebrew media recently reported that Netanyahu is considering moving up the election date to June 2026, instead of November 3, 2026, as originally planned.
