Baghaei: Human rights resolutions on Iran have political roots
Esmail Baghaei, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited the Mizan News Agency's editorial office and was briefed on its activities.
Mizan -
The Foreign Ministry Spokesman then answered questions from foreign policy and international relations reporters at Mizan News Agency regarding some important foreign policy issues. Below are some of the most important statements made by the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson in response to questions from Mizan News Agency reporters.
- One of the instruments used against us has been human rights, and we have long complained about the instrumental use of human rights on a global scale. Since we both firmly believe in human rights and dignity and regard ourselves as bound by international agreements, we always respond to accusations made against us.
- Iran is one of the countries that has been the target of human rights attacks, both in the Human Rights Council and in the UN General Assembly; European countries also issue separate resolutions on the human rights situation of different countries, but at the UN level, if you look at the founders of anti-Iranian resolutions, you will realize that the purpose and intent of these resolutions is completely political.
- The Zionist regime is one of the groups that firmly supports these resolutions. The United States, Canada, and Britain are also major backers of anti-Iranian resolutions, but it is unclear if they are genuinely worried about Iran's human rights abuses. All of the parties listed are in the accused's position; the sanctions that these nations impose on the Iranian people are the most blatant example of their violations of human rights; numerous cases of human rights violations, such as violations of the right to life and the right to health, are brought about by the unlawful sanctions that the United States and its allies have imposed. in the Human Rights Council, these same countries are the main sponsors of resolutions against Iran.
- In cases where Iranian nationals have been detained in other countries or have been requested to be extradited, we raise the issue with the local government and remind them of their responsibilities and obligations under international law; in addition, we have followed up through official channels by sending notes to their embassies in Tehran or through our own embassies with the local Foreign Ministry.
- We have communicated with Iraqi authorities since Mohammad Reza Nouri was arrested there, and we have explicitly stated in our discussions regarding his extradition that this should not occur because the charges made are merely a series of allegations that have not been validated or supported by evidence. As a result, this issue has been on the agendas of all our officials who have visited Iraq or Iraqi officials who have visited Tehran since the inception of the charges against him.
- We have supported every political and diplomatic process that has been brought up at the regional or UN level and have done our best to stop the genocide in Gaza, which is one of the demands of the entire international community, not just the region and Islamic nations. Actually, we have backed every effort and endeavor that has been made to halt the atrocities and murders in Gaza and Palestine, and in numerous instances, we have attempted to step in in a novel and creative manner.
- According to media reports about Syria, there are diverse initiatives underway to stabilize the situation and establish the framework for forming the country's future government. Our stance has been consistent and principled since the beginning: Syrians should make decisions about their own future without harmful foreign intervention.
- What is happening in Yemen is a decision and action taken by the Yemenis, and we, as the Islamic Republic of Iran, within the framework of our principled position that has always supported the resistance against the Zionist regime's occupation, have announced our positions of support for Yemen and praised their honorable support for the Palestinian cause.
- It is not possible to make predictions about the future of the United States administration at this time; instead, decisions should be based on the performance and practical behavior of the opposing parties. However, nuclear talks are currently in progress; these talks took place in Geneva in late November and covered a variety of topics in light of regional developments. We expressed our concerns and demands to the European parties during this meeting, as we believe that their policies and actions have frequently not been constructive. the next round of talks will be held in late January and will continue during the same meeting, and it is natural that one of the topics on the agenda in these talks will be nuclear issues.
- Our nuclear issue has always been peaceful and it is peaceful now; The International Atomic Energy Agency has been fully monitoring and supervising our nuclear program, based on the NPT and the Safeguards Agreement, and this situation itself demonstrates the complete transparency and peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program.
