Prime minister of Canada: Netanyahu will be arrested if he comes
While pressure from the Israeli lobby in the United States continues against the remarks of Zahran Mamdani, the leading mayoral candidate in New York, about Netanyahu’s possible arrest, Canada’s leader reiterated the same pledge.
English Bloomberg News anchor Michelle Hussein asked Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in an interview about the Hague court’s arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu.
Hussein said: “To achieve the ultimate goal of establishing a Palestinian state alongside a secure Israel, you must increase pressure on the Israeli cabinet.”
She added: “Justin Trudeau said Canada respects arrest warrants issued by the International Court. That means if Benjamin Netanyahu comes to Canada, he will be arrested. Will that remain the case under your leadership?”
The Canadian prime minister answered the former BBC presenter and current Bloomberg journalist with a single word: “Yes.”
Hussein asked again: “Are you prepared to do that (arrest Netanyahu if he travels to Canada)?”
The prime minister replied: “Yes.”
