Israel-linked assassination network dismantled in Lebanon
Lebanon’s General Security Directorate announced on Friday that it had successfully dismantled a spy network operating on behalf of Israel. According to the agency, members of the network were preparing to carry out terrorist operations inside Lebanese territory, including bombings and assassinations. Several individuals involved in the network have been arrested.
During the investigation, one of the detainees confessed that the group had previously carried out assassinations that resulted in the deaths of officials belonging to Lebanon’s al-Jama’a al-Islamiyya movement.
Lebanese General Security stated that it had launched a precise intelligence, security, and technical operation leading to the arrests of multiple suspects. Several vehicles and technical equipment used by the network were also seized.
Authorities added that full details of the case will be revealed once the ongoing investigation is complete.
