American woman arrested for attempting to drown Palestinian child
A woman from the state of Texas, USA, was taken into custody and prosecuted after attempting to drown a three-year-old Palestinian girl.
According to Reuters, the incident occurred in May 2024 at a community pool in a Texas apartment complex. Police reported that Elizabeth Wolf initially asked the child’s mother about her nationality.
Following her arrest, police stated that her motive was racially motivated.
Court records and media reviews of judicial proceedings indicate that the judge sentenced Elizabeth Wolf to five years in prison after she admitted to charges of attempted murder and causing harm to a child.
Human rights groups have noted that threats against Muslims in the United States have significantly increased since the Israeli regime’s attack on Gaza in October 2023.
Incidents like this have raised serious concerns about rising Islamophobic sentiments in the U.S., including:
- A stabbing that killed a six-year-old Palestinian-American boy in Illinois;
- A stabbing attack on a Palestinian-American man in Texas;
- Violent assaults by mobs on pro-Palestine protesters in California
These cases highlight growing fears of anti-Muslim violence across the country.
