Spain bans U.S. arms shipments to Israel
As global public pressure against Israel’s genocide continues, Spain’s ban on U.S. military consignments bound for Israel has drawn attention.
El País wrote that Spain’s decision to block the passage of U.S. military cargo to Israel was made in opposition to Tel Aviv’s actions in Gaza.
The Spanish report noted that the ban applies both to ships traveling directly to Israel and to those making stopovers before reaching Israel as their final destination. The measure covers all U.S. aircraft and ships carrying weapons or equipment to Israel, even via indirect routes.
The newspaper stated: “Spain has vetoed the passage of U.S. military planes or ships carrying weapons, ammunition, or military equipment to Israel through its bases in Rota (Cádiz) and Morón de la Frontera (Seville).”
Sources cited by El País added: “Rota and Morón are bases under Spanish sovereignty, commanded by Spanish military personnel, and any activities there must be authorized by Spanish authorities.”
