Execution of trusted Mossad spy in Iran
Bahram Choubi Asl, son of Hassan, who had engaged in extensive and deliberate cooperation with the Israeli intelligence service in the field of databases, was executed by hanging this morning following due legal process.
Choubi Asl, a specialist in database systems, had gained access to sensitive and telecommunications projects of the country through his presence in a knowledge-based company.
Because of his expertise, he was active as a manager in all of the company’s projects, holding high-level access to vital and governmental databases of the country.
How his relationship with Mossad began
After receiving his specialized degree in database systems, during a technical training course in one of the Persian Gulf states, Choubi was identified by Mossad agents.
Soon after, a Mossad officer, under the cover of a front company called ESMI, contacted him by phone, inviting him to collaborate on database projects. Later, under the pretext of holding technical negotiations and discussing cooperation conditions in person, he was asked to travel to Armenia. The destination was later changed to India, where he was instructed to bring along his work laptop. According to his own confession, he carried the laptop used for his project work.

During that trip, the front-company manager (a Mossad officer) debriefed him, assessed his level of technical expertise and access, paid all travel expenses, offered him rewards, and tasked him with attending specialized technical training to improve his skills.
In continuation, the Mossad officer invited Choubi Asl to Ireland, where he underwent about 45 days of specialized training. During this time, another Persian-speaking agent was introduced to him, who, along with covering expenses, conducted multiple intelligence meetings to extract information from Choubi about his expertise, sensitive ongoing projects, database processes, and the structure of Iranian data centers.
Mossad’s intelligence requirements
In his confessions, the convict described Mossad’s demands, which included:
- gaining access to the data center systems of various institutions,
- contacts with companies active in electronics and database equipment,
- penetration of sensitive and infrastructure projects,
- establishing links with prominent specialists in the fields of databases and Oracle.
Mossad’s main goal in recruiting him was to obtain governmental databases and infiltrate Iran’s data centers, while also pursuing secondary objectives such as monitoring the import routes of electronic equipment.
Choubi admitted that Mossad officers told him they could sell equipment to Iran and asked him to connect them with his company’s CEO or other hardware suppliers. One of Mossad’s sabotage methods was to connect their agents with technical firms and sell them faulty or compromised equipment, which would then be installed in critical sectors, disrupting operations — similar to acts of sabotage previously seen in Iran’s nuclear industry.
Training provided by Mossad
- How to use “Red Windows,” micro-SD cards, and USB flash drives.
- Receiving an instructional file on a secure system for sending information.
- How to send messages to Mossad using public spaces.
In return for providing information, Choubi received travel and accommodation expenses for foreign trips, costs of language and technical courses, mission fees, and cooperation rewards.
His standing with Mossad
According to the case file, Mossad officers trusted him to such a degree that they not only held meetings with him in safe houses but also used him as a technical interviewer to assess other agents. During one trip, a Mossad chief personally met with him, expressed satisfaction with his work, and provided him with the latest and most advanced version of “Red Windows.”
Reports indicate that the systems he received from Mossad were among the most exclusive tools given only to high-level and trusted agents. Over time, he was given multiple generations of this system during in-person meetings.
Deliberate and conscious espionage
Based on his missions, the support provided to him for language training and skill enhancement, 63 in-person meetings across 9 foreign trips, 95 remote meetings with Mossad officers, and receiving espionage tools, secure communication systems, and payments, it was concluded that his collaboration with Mossad was deliberate and conscious.
His in-person meetings with Mossad officers took place in the UAE, Armenia, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Ireland, and Bulgaria.
After his arrest and completion of investigations, his case was referred to court with charges of espionage for a foreign service against the Islamic Republic of Iran, including receiving money and intelligence cooperation with the occupying Zionist regime.
Eventually, after trial with the presence of his defense lawyer, legal procedures, and review of evidence, the court sentenced Bahram Choubi Asl to death on the charge of “corruption on earth through intelligence cooperation with the Zionist regime’s service.”
Following his appeal, the case was reviewed by the Supreme Court, which rejected his petition and upheld the verdict.
This morning, after confirmation by the Supreme Court, the death sentence was carried out.
