Gaza government exposes Netanyahu’s eight lies at the UN
Following the speech of Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the occupying regime, delivered to empty seats at the UN General Assembly and filled with absurd falsehoods, the Government Information Office in the Gaza Strip issued a press statement.
It declared that Netanyahu made eight major lies and dozens of false claims at the UN in an attempt to justify war crimes and genocide against the Palestinian people.
The office listed Netanyahu’s lies as follows:
- Claim of not forgetting the Israeli captives in Gaza: While Netanyahu’s cabinet openly pursues the fascist policies of his ministers aimed at massacre, total destruction, and forced displacement of the people of Gaza, paying no genuine attention to the fate of the Israeli captives.
- Falsehood about global support for Israel after October 7, 2023: Netanyahu claimed that world leaders support him and Israel, whereas such support has completely eroded. Today, most countries condemn Israeli crimes and challenge the Zionist narrative.
- Undermining global public opinion: Netanyahu alleged that world leaders act against Israel only due to pressure from “radical Islamists.” In reality, global public opinion is correcting past mistakes and recognizing the rights of the Palestinian people.
- Falsehood about fighting wars on seven fronts: Netanyahu described these wars as “combats against terrorism,” while the truth is they have been wars against civilians and civilian infrastructure. International organizations have confirmed that 94% of the victims are civilians, including over 30,000 women and children, with widespread destruction across more than 90% of health, education, and infrastructure sectors.
- Fabrication about resistance preventing people from leaving Gaza: This lie was made despite Netanyahu himself publicly acknowledging the displacement of 700,000 people. Local authorities in Gaza have repeatedly reported aiding displaced persons and never preventing anyone from leaving.
- False claim of not targeting civilians: Netanyahu argued that since civilians were told to evacuate beforehand, there was no intent of genocide. Yet the occupying army dropped over 200,000 tons of bombs on residential areas, killing over 64,000 civilians, including 20,000 children and 10,500 women. Thousands of entire families have been erased from civil registries.
- Accusation against the resistance of stealing aid: Netanyahu claimed that resistance forces loot humanitarian aid in Gaza. In reality, the occupying regime, by supporting armed gangs, has waged a starvation war against Gaza. Hundreds of civilians, including 147 children, have died of hunger and famine. The occupying army also set death traps, killing, wounding, or capturing hundreds of starving displaced people.
- Distortion regarding recognition of the State of Palestine: Netanyahu claimed that recognizing Palestine encourages killing Jews. In fact, recognition of Palestine is a long-overdue act to correct historical injustice against the Palestinian people, restore their legitimate rights, and end 77 years of suffering under occupation.
The Government Information Office in Gaza added: Netanyahu’s speech at the UN was nothing but a futile attempt to distort the truth and escape legal responsibility for crimes that, under international law, constitute clear war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.
The office emphasized: These fabrications cannot change reality. Today, more than ever, the world recognizes the nature of the Zionist regime as a brutal, colonial, fraudulent system built on deception, violence, and systematic slaughter.
The Government Information Office in Gaza concluded by stressing that the occupying Zionist regime and the U.S. government bear direct responsibility for Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe. It called for the immediate halt of the genocidal war and massacres, the withdrawal of occupying forces from Gaza, the opening of crossings for humanitarian aid, acceleration of recognition of the State of Palestine, and a complete end to the occupation of its land.
