Israeli soldier killed in sniper attack in northern Gaza
According to the Israeli Army Radio, the soldier from Battalion 932 was standing guard at a post in one of the Nahal Brigade’s fortifications on the outskirts of the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in northern Gaza City.
While on duty, a Hamas fighter targeted the Israeli soldier with a precise sniper shot, killing him. The shooting was carried out from a long distance, and there was no indication that the sniper attempted to approach or storm the fortifications (Israeli army positions have been prominent targets of Hamas attacks in recent weeks).
Troops stationed at the fortifications who observed the shooting began searching the area and also used aerial strikes to support efforts to locate and neutralize the sniper. Despite these search efforts, the sniper appears to remain at large.
