Danish Prime Minister: We experienced the most serious attack on our infrastructure
On Tuesday, September 23, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said: “The incident at Copenhagen Airport, in which large drones disrupted operations, has been the most serious attack to date on Denmark’s critical infrastructure.”
Frederiksen added: “This says something about the times we live in and what we, as a society, must be prepared for.”
She stressed that no possibility is being ruled out regarding who was behind the incident, noting that it is in line with the recent wave of drone incursions, airspace violations, and cyberattacks on European airports.

Earlier, Danish police announced that Copenhagen Airport had suspended operations after several drones were spotted in the area.
In a post on X, the airport confirmed: “We suspended operations due to suspicious drone activity.”
The airport later reopened after several hours, though delays and cancellations were reported to continue.
Copenhagen police had earlier posted on social media that the airport was shut down because of several large drones flying in the vicinity, preventing takeoffs and landings.
Jens Jespersen, head of Danish police, said: “We have concluded that this is what we call a capable operator.”
The incident comes as major European airports — including London Heathrow, Berlin, and Brussels — have been hit by cyberattacks in recent days.
These cyberattacks caused disruptions at multiple airports across Europe, leading to numerous flight cancellations and delays.
