Israeli regime strikes Yemen’s Hodeidah port
On Tuesday, media outlets reported that Israeli warplanes launched air raids on the western Yemeni port of Hodeidah. Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, announced that Yemen’s air defense systems were actively engaging the Israeli fighter jets.
According to Yemeni media, the Israeli warplanes conducted 12 airstrikes against the port.
An Israeli military source told Channel 13 of the regime’s television network that the aim of the attack was to hit the port’s docks in order to continue the naval blockade imposed on the Houthis (Ansarallah) in recent months and to prevent reconstruction efforts at the port. Another Israeli source told Channel 12 that the objective was to shut down the port entirely.
Meanwhile, the Yemeni military’s missile and drone operations have forced the closure of Israel’s Eilat port.
The Yemeni Armed Forces spokesperson further stated: “Yemen’s air defenses caused severe disruption and confusion among the enemy aircraft, forcing some of their combat formations to leave Yemen’s airspace before executing their strikes, and preventing them from penetrating deeper into Yemeni territory.”
