Call for interrogation of Israeli soldier in Greece
In a statement, the Hind Rajab Legal Institute said: “We have learned that a sergeant in the Golani Brigade of the Israeli army, who has taken part in war crimes in Gaza, was also involved in the assault on Palestinian demonstrators in Athens, the capital of Greece. We call on the Greek government to launch an investigation into this individual.”
According to Al Jazeera, the Institute also filed a petition with Greece’s Supreme Court against an Israeli army officer, Major Yair Ohana, who commands a company in the 432nd Infantry Battalion of the Golani Brigade.
The statement noted that this unit is one of the main units that participated in the genocidal operations against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The Hind Rajab Institute further stressed that the complaints submitted are backed by extensive evidence showing that Ohana bears individual criminal responsibility for war crimes, torture, and genocide.
Diab Abu Jahjah, head of the Institute, said earlier in an interview with Al Jazeera that the organization would never remain idle and would continue its efforts to prosecute Israeli war criminals in national courts around the world, monitoring such individuals and their accomplices during foreign travels.
The Institute is named after a five-year-old Palestinian girl, Hind Rajab, who, along with six family members, was killed by the occupying Israeli army on January 29, 2024, when their car sheltering them in southwest Gaza City was targeted.
