“Gideon’s Chariots 2”: A trigger for internal conflict within the Zionist regime
On September 3, the Israeli army launched an operation under the title “Gideon’s Chariots 2” to occupy Gaza City—an action that drew criticism and protests in the occupied territories due to concerns over the safety of Israeli prisoners in Gaza.
Now, the French daily Le Figaro has reported on the widespread disputes between the military and political echelons in the occupied territories over this controversial operation. The paper noted that the profound disagreements between military commanders and political leaders over the so-called “Gideon’s Chariots 2” have become evident, with verbal clashes among senior leaders no longer hidden, and supporters of both camps trading accusations in a bid to prevent a looming “day of reckoning.”
Le Figaro further wrote that the Israeli army continues its military operation in Gaza, but has provided no real guarantee of achieving its objectives—something that doubles the level of internal tension.
The newspaper added that these developments have raised further questions about the usefulness of operations that have dragged on for months.
In recent days, the Israeli army has expanded its airstrikes against Gaza City with the aim of fully occupying it, while preparing for a ground offensive in the city, home to over one million Palestinians. This operation comes as part of the genocidal war the Zionist regime—backed by the United States—has been waging against Gaza since October 7, 2023.
