Araghchi: Misunderstanding with Qatar during recent visit has been resolved
In his interview with Al-Sharq newspaper in Doha—whose full text will be published next Sunday—Araghchi praised the outcome of his meeting with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, and said: “In this meeting, I conveyed a verbal message from President Masoud Pezeshkian to the Emir of Qatar. The meeting was very important and influential.”
The discussions addressed bilateral relations between Iran and Qatar, particularly the misunderstanding that arose after Iran’s strikes on the Al-Udeid base in Qatar, which followed a U.S. attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Araghchi underlined that the talks with the Emir of Qatar as well as with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, were very fruitful, serious, and constructive.
He added: “In these meetings, we discussed a wide range of issues, beginning with bilateral relations and the latest related developments. Fortunately, there are no differences between the two countries, and the misunderstanding has been fully resolved with this trip.”
The foreign minister emphasized that they also discussed ways to achieve regional stability, particularly the resumption of dialogue among regional countries to ensure security and cooperation in countering the hegemonic ambitions of the Israeli regime and its acts of aggression against the countries of the region.
Araghchi further stated: “The nuclear issue of Iran was also discussed in detail in this meeting, and I briefed the Emir of Qatar on the latest developments regarding this matter. Our friends in Qatar have always had constructive views, and we have always exchanged perspectives on these issues. This time as well, valuable consultations took place.”
