Albanian media: Monafeghin, a dying cult built on betrayal and foreign money
The Monafeghin, currently based in Camp Ashraf-3 in Albania, faces growing reports of worsening internal conditions.
Albanian media Gazeta Impact, in a report on the group’s current situation, wrote that the Monafeghin is nothing more than a bankrupt and disgraced entity. History shows that during Saddam Hussein’s war against Iran, the Monafeghin stood alongside Saddam instead of defending their own homeland.
The Guardian has reported how the Monafeghin, after siding with Saddam, came to be widely recognized as traitors inside Iran; meanwhile, accounts and testimonies from defectors have exposed the group’s cult-like structure.
Al Jazeera has also described the Monafeghin as a cult-like group that imposes repressive rules on its members and prevents them from leaving.
Given such a humiliating record, there is no doubt that the Monafeghin no longer has any meaningful base inside Iran and survives only as a foreign-sponsored mercenary network.
Intertwined internal crises
In recent years, the crisis inside Camp Ashraf-3 has reached its peak. Evidence shows that more than 65% of members are over 60 years old, with the average age ranging between 60 and 70.
These aging members, many of whom suffer from chronic illnesses—ranging from diabetes and heart disease to blindness and other long-term conditions—are deliberately denied proper medical care or the right to officially leave the camp.
Defectors from Ashraf-3 say that the Monafeghin leadership deliberately keeps elderly and sick members trapped in such conditions to prevent sensitive information from leaking. Doctors inside the camp have even attributed mental and sexual disorders among members to decades of abnormal living.
The Guardian has also confirmed that despite the leaders’ attempts to keep them, younger Monafeghin members are leaving the camp.
Reports further indicate growing tensions between rank-and-file members and the group’s leadership, with some insiders admitting that the Monafeghin is on the verge of structural collapse.
The Monafeghin has no future—it survives only on foreign funding, as a dying organization.
Lobbying scandals in Europe
For decades, the Monafeghin has spent millions of dollars on lobbying campaigns aimed at whitewashing its bloody history, but its deceptive tactics have recently been exposed in the heart of Europe.
The European Parliament has accused the Monafeghin of fraudulent actions to secure political support. According to a recent resolution, the group illegally added the names of MEPs to letters they had never signed, presenting them as supporters of events they had never endorsed.
Investigations also revealed that the Monafeghin paid large sums to former politicians, retired generals, and lobbyists to speak at its staged gatherings.
These revelations have cast serious doubt on much of the group’s so-called support. The European Parliament has formally described the Monafeghin as a terrorist group that engages in aggressive and deceitful lobbying.
The conclusion is clear: the Monafeghin’s lobbying machine is collapsing under the weight of its own lies. Even in Europe—where it once boasted of its influence—it is now seen as nothing more than a pressure group and a network of mercenaries.
Monafeghin’s collaboration with Mossad
Perhaps the darkest chapter in the Monafeghin’s history is its collaboration with Israel’s Mossad.
Western media revealed that in August 2002, the Monafeghin cooperated with Mossad against Iran’s nuclear program.
In 2012, NBC News, citing U.S. intelligence officials, confirmed that Mossad had trained Monafeghin operatives to assassinate Iranian scientists.
Reports suggest that this sinister cooperation continues. Once claiming to be anti-Zionist and anti-imperialist, the Monafeghin has become a mercenary arm of the Israeli regime—today serving only as a pawn in Tel Aviv’s regional strategy.
This treacherous collaboration has reinforced the Monafeghin’s image among Iranians as a historical traitor more than ever before.
The End of the Monafeghin
The Monafeghin is finished. It is nothing but a gathering of cowards and elderly captives in Albania.
For the West, it is a discredited lobbying network, now exposed, serving as a mercenary arm of the genocidal Israeli regime.
The only legacy of the Monafeghin Terrorist Group is betrayal.
