28 Gaza children killed each day by war and famine
Catherine Russell, Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), told an American media outlet: “Palestinian children in Gaza are facing catastrophic famine. The debates must end, and the delivery of food aid must begin immediately.”
Russell added: “Children in Gaza have been suffering from acute food shortages for months. They are so weak that they no longer even have the strength to cry.”
According to Sputnik, the UNICEF official noted that since the beginning of the conflict, nearly 28 Palestinian children—equivalent to an entire classroom—die each day in Gaza.
UNRWA also issued a statement on Sunday describing famine as the latest catastrophe engulfing the Gaza Strip.
Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of UNRWA, declared: “The current situation in Gaza is pure hell. Denying the famine there is the most abhorrent form of dehumanization.”
He further stressed that the Israeli regime must stop spreading false narratives about Gaza and instead allow humanitarian organizations unrestricted access to provide aid, as well as permit international journalists to independently cover developments on the ground.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement stressing that the international community’s failure to immediately stop the famine undermines the moral foundations of states and the global order—especially as relevant international institutions affirm that humanitarian considerations must not be subordinated to political calculations and interests.
