The judiciary will show no leniency in dealing with spies and Zionist agents
At the beginning of the conference, the Judiciary spokesperson wished health and success for the entire Iranian nation and all servants, especially the Supreme Leader, saying: “I pray to Almighty God for the highest ranks for the founder of the sacred Islamic Republic system and for all the martyrs of the path of truth and justice.”
He added: “The proud Iranian nation truly shone in the 12-day war and became renowned worldwide for its unity, coherence, and national solidarity. We must strive to preserve and sustain this national cohesion carefully. We must also be vigilant against the enemy’s plots and schemes.”
He continued: “Today, some forces may try to divide society with false dichotomies to weaken this unity and solidarity, but none of us should allow this. Journalists, as social watchdogs, play a crucial role in conveying the people’s messages to officials and clarifying real societal issues. We hope that this enlightening duty of writers will cause the enemy to fail on the media front as well.”
He added: “The enemy was defeated in the recent 12-day war but resorted to extensive psychological operations. We must be careful now not to fall for the enemy’s psychological and media warfare, as they try to disrupt stability and peace and keep the shadow of war in people’s minds, thereby disturbing normal life. However, the people and officials have recognized this trick.”
The Judiciary spokesperson said: “This fake regime (Israel) has no logic other than genocide and killing children. Today, it is recognized as the most hated regime worldwide. People all over the world, including in Australia, Canada, Germany, Sweden, and elsewhere, are protesting against this bloodthirsty regime, and the free people of the world are shouting for the freedom of Palestine.”
He added: “We must strive to keep this movement, which today aims to expose the Zionist regime globally, alive. It is the duty of every free nation to support this. Meanwhile, human rights claimants only side with oppressed nations in words but in practice ally with oppressors. People themselves must act to expose and disgrace this ruthless regime.”
Regarding the return of prisoners to Evin Prison after the Zionist regime’s attack on it, Jahangir said: “From the day the Zionist aggressors attacked Evin Prison, the head of the Judiciary ordered the Prisons Organization and the Prosecutor’s Office to promptly return prisoners who had been exceptionally transferred to other prisons back to Evin. Following yesterday’s follow-up and the order of Tehran’s prosecutor, 500 prisoners who were sent to Tehran’s large prison returned to Evin without any problems, and others who were deemed unfit for return to Evin were sent to other prisons.”
In response to a question about the status of cases concerning spies arrested recently and those arrested before and during the war, he said: “Espionage cases are very complex, and due to the variety of espionage crimes, these cases must be handled carefully. Some may be arrested on suspicion of espionage, which later proves unfounded. We must allow the relevant intelligence and security bodies to carefully investigate these cases and respect the rights of the accused so no one is unjustly accused or convicted. At the same time, the rights of the nation and sovereignty must be upheld.”
He added: “Regarding the statement issued by the Ministry of Intelligence that 20 espionage agents and supporters of Mossad and related elements were arrested in Tehran and some other provinces, these cases have been immediately registered and are under investigation by judges. Once full information is obtained, it will be announced.”
The spokesperson said: “The judiciary will show no leniency in dealing with spies and Zionist agents and will issue strict verdicts as a historical lesson for all spies and agents of the Zionist regime.”
Answering a question about judicial follow-up on damages caused by the Zionist regime’s aggression and whether there is a serious determination to pursue this, he said: “The main responsibility lies with the government, which has taken effective measures through the Legal Deputy of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Supreme National Security Council has issued resolutions and informed relevant bodies.”
He added: “The Judiciary, in its role, along with the International Affairs Deputy, the Secretary of the High Council for Human Rights, the Attorney General, and the Bar Association, has also started actions.”
Jahangir referred to U.S. actions against human rights and international organizations, saying: “For example, the U.S. withdrawal from the Human Rights Council and UNESCO was to support the Zionist regime. Also, the U.S. sanctioned the Special Rapporteur on Palestinian affairs at the Human Rights Council. These show that whenever oppressed nations try to claim their rights through international organizations, imperialist regimes like the U.S. use veto and other powers to prevent them from obtaining their rights.”
He mentioned that the letter from the Secretary of the High Council for Human Rights to the UN High Commissioner condemning attacks on media buildings, health centers, and civilian sites as war crimes is being pursued.
He emphasized another letter sent to the UN High Commissioner protesting U.S. aggression against Iran’s nuclear facilities and a letter protesting the widespread aggression by the Zionist regime and the U.S. on residential areas, prisons, cities, and villages of the Islamic Republic, as well as a statement issued on the occasion of the week dedicated to re-examining and exposing American human rights abuses.
