Islamic Human Rights and Human Dignity Day: A day to protest the false claimants of human rights
On the Islamic Human Rights and Human Dignity Day, unfortunately, instead of celebrating and expressing satisfaction over achievements resulting from greater respect and protection of international human rights values and principles—more than seven decades after the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights—we are forced to use this day as an opportunity to raise our voice in protest: a protest against the systematic violation of human rights in Palestine and the deadly silence of the false claimants of human rights!
1- The Failures of the Founders of Human Rights Instruments: The drafters of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Covenants, and other international human rights conventions, despite articulating many human and moral principles, have failed when it comes to non-discriminatory application and genuine adherence to those principles.
Another major shortcoming of these documents is their neglect of the spiritual dimension and divine dignity of human beings—a dignity emphasized in religious and ethical teachings but largely ignored in international law. Today, Palestine is the laboratory of this failure—where children and ordinary people lose their dignity under bombs, starvation, and genocide, and the world just watches.
2- The West’s Double Standards: Silence in the Face of Genocide in Gaza
More than 60,000 martyrs, 200,000 wounded, and the use of starvation as a weapon—while both the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice have accused Israel of war crimes—yet the United States and Europe continue to provide military and political support to this regime!
The violation of the territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran, attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities, and the assassination of Iranian civilians, scientists, and senior commanders are clear violations of the UN Charter, which prohibits aggression and mandates respect for national sovereignty. So why has the United Nations remained silent?
Mrs. Albanese, the UN Human Rights Council’s Special Rapporteur who reported on genocide in Gaza by the Zionist regime, was sanctioned by the United States! Is this not hypocrisy?
3- Expectations from the Islamic World and International Community : The Islamic world, the international community, and especially the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation are expected to organize and continue their practical, political, and comprehensive support for the Palestinian people—based on international human rights standards, international humanitarian law, and the Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam—until the crimes cease and Palestinians’ full rights are achieved.
In addition to sending food and medical aid to Gaza and applying political pressure on international institutions to pursue justice, the free people of the world must raise their voices and expose the West’s double standards in the media and on social networks: by increasing the political cost of supporting Israel through widespread boycotts and protests.
Undoubtedly, history will judge. If we remain silent today, history will ask us: Where were you when the children of Gaza were dying beneath the rubble of bombs?
