Two operational members of the Monafeghin Terrorist Group executed in Iran
According to the Judiciary Media Center, Mehdi Hassani (alias: Fardin), son of Hossein, and Behrouz Ehsani Eslamloo (alias: Behzad), son of Jamshid-Ali — operational and terrorist elements of the Monafeghin Terrorist Group — were executed after being convicted of manufacturing launchers and improvised mortars, which they used to target civilians, residential areas, service and administrative buildings, educational institutions, and charity centers. Their attacks caused damage and casualties, and their actions aimed to disrupt public order and threaten the safety of innocent citizens.
Documents in the case file reveal that Mehdi Hassani had joined the Monafeghin Terrorist Group several years ago and had maintained contact with the group’s operational handlers.
Behrouz Ehsani Eslamloo had also been a member of the Monafeghin Terrorist Group since the 1980s. After serving a prison sentence during that time, he rejoined the group upon his release.
In coordination with Monafeghin operatives, the two terrorists established a safehouse in Tehran, where they constructed launchers and improvised mortars. They launched inaccurate projectiles toward civilians and public facilities and engaged in propaganda and disruptive activities in support of the Monafeghin.
Other actions attributed to the two individuals include destruction of public property, gathering intelligence and video recordings of their terrorist activities, which they transmitted to their handlers for dissemination via Monafeghin -affiliated media channels.
One of the individuals, Behrouz Eslamloo, was arrested by Iranian intelligence agents while attempting to cross the land border into Turkey.
Upon their arrest, authorities discovered firearms, ammunition, mortar-making equipment, and materials intended for disguising identities.
Following their identification and arrest, the individuals were formally charged with Baghi (armed rebellion), membership in a terrorist organization (Monafeghin Terrorist Group) with the intent to undermine national security, intelligence gathering and dissemination, conspiracy and collusion, and Moharebeh (waging war against the state) through destruction of public property.
With the indictment submitted to the court, trial sessions were held with the presence of the defendants and their attorneys. Based on the evidence and documentation, the Tehran court sentenced both individuals to death on the charge of Baghi.
After the initial verdict, the case was reviewed by the Supreme Court. The court upheld the ruling based on the submitted evidence.
The Supreme Court also rejected the convicts’ request for a retrial.
Finally, after the completion of all legal procedures, Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani Eslamloo were executed by hanging and their death sentences were carried out.
